КОРИЧНЕВОГЛИНЯНЫЕ АМФОРЫ: ИСТОРИЯ ИЗУЧЕНИЯ И СОВРЕМЕННОЕ СОСТОЯНИЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ.
The brown clay «Colchian» amphorae have a long history of research. Many hypotheses have been put forward about the localization of production sites and many attempts have been made to provide archaeological evidence of production centers. Several typologies have been developed. In recent decades several attempts have been made to solve the problem by natural science methods. S.Y. Vnukov and the research group of the Polish-Georgian archaeological expedition at Gonio (Apsaros) achieved significant success in this direction. Nevertheless, the question is still open. To find the ways to resolve it, it seems useful to summarize the previous experience. The article examines domestic and foreign publications conserning the study of brown clay amphorae. The main attention is given to works reflecting the main stages of studies and the actual status of the problem.
