How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Scientists Train Neural Network to Generate Process Plans from 3D Models
Researchers at the HSE FCS AI and Digital Science Institute have developed CAD2TechSpec, a framework that converts 3D models of mechanical parts into machining process plans—step-by-step instructions for machine tools. The solution aims to reduce the time required for the design and preparation of technical process documentation in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and other high-tech industries. The study findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science.

Knyazeva H.

The work substantiates that in the ideas of cybernetics (N. Wiener, W.R. Ashby) and second-order cybernetics (H. von Foerster) one can find the historical origins of constructivism theories, which are very popular in various fields of modern science, including epistemological constructivism, linguistic constructivism and social constructivism. The construction and proliferation of worlds in consciousness, the use of the ability of consciousness to “think as if” (als ob) or “think differently” is the basis for the construction and redesign of the world, its constant creative renewal, and the production of innovations in it. Highly abstract concepts in natural science theories are constructs that do not have direct referents in reality. Epistemological constructivism is concerned with the study of the productive power of human imagination, the use of metaphors to create initial visual images of thought and creative thinking. Speech act theory in linguistics shows how we create reality with words. Social constructivism is, in fact, a method that gives us tools for understanding how people create social phenomena and institutionalize them, turning them into traditions, how social reality is generated and constructed by people.

The spheres of the miraculous and monstrous are older than science, and perhaps even older than conceptual language. They belong to the reality of metaphors, or even deep emotions, therefore, in relation to science, their use, at first glance, seems evaluative and superfluous, because they do not refer to specific objects, labels and categories, but ...

«Владычествование Homo sapiens над Землей»: утопия или неизбежность?
Grebnev L., Вопросы философии 2026 № 7 С. 5–15
In the coming millennium, the transformation of our world has become a matter of global concern. The first attempts to move in this direction were unsuccessful. The globalization of economic activity is being replaced by the formation of relatively autonomous macroregions. But it would be a mistake to assume on this basis that joint dominion over the entire planet ...

Bultseva M. A., В кн.: Язык. С. 121–127.
In contemporary psychology, creativity is understood as the ability to produce something that is both original and socially meaningful within a specific cultural context. Within the sociocultural approach, special attention is given to implicit theories of creativity – non-formalized beliefs about what is considered creative in various social situations. The present study aims to examine how Russian-speaking respondents’ representations ...

Hintikka's independence-friendly logic meets Nelson's realizability
Odintsov S., Speranski S. O., Shevchenko I., Studia Logica 2018 Vol. 106 No. 3 P. 637–670
Inspired by Hintikka’s ideas on constructivism, we are going to ‘effectivize’ the game-theoretic semantics (abbreviated GTS) for independence-friendly first-order logic (IF-FOL), but in a somewhat different way than he did in the monograph ‘The Principles of Mathematics Revisited’. First we show that Nelson’s realizability interpretation — which extends the famous Kleene’s realizability interpretation by adding ...

In this article we question the relevance of Geert Hofstede’s opposition of individualism and collectivism in the era of digitalization. The mediatization of labor causes a blurring of the boundaries between the real and the virtual, the reduction of direct interactions leads to familiar affects losing their intensity. We correlate individualism with an affective assemblage ...

This article examines Yan Satunovsky’s literary-critical and theoretical legacy. Although relatively small, this corpus is significant. Satunovsky’s analysis of the poetics of children's folklore, specifically counting rhymes, as well as the works of his predecessors and contemporaries (V. Mayakovsky, K. Chukovsky, G. Sapgir, and others), helps the poet formulate his own creative principles. . The ...

This paper examines the problem of Japanese foreign expansion through the lens of constructivist international relations theory. The Oriental studies tradition to describe and explain such phenomenon frequently lacks the question why it was Japan that managed to overcome its subalternity and start its own colonial policies, but other Asian nations failed to perform it.
