Современная наука в условиях деглобализации: социологический анализ
This article analyzes the reasons for the downward trend in three key aspects of the development of science in the context of deglobalization: reducing the number of publications and citations, stopping foreign investment and “brain drain”. The article shows that the reasons for these trends are not cyclical, but structural, that is, the process of deglobalization of science and the transformation of the very foundation of the international research system is underway. The specific purpose of the study was to study the impact of current trends on Russian science. The question is whether and to what extent deglobalization processes will have a negative impact on research in Russia, which has developed thanks to the processes of globalization. Significant changes in the Russian paradigm of science development, based on domestic production and import substitution to meet domestic demand and financed from domestic resources, have led to a decrease in the share of all international indicators in research. This is confirmed both by the statistical description of changes in variables associated with deglobalization and by the results of the theoretical study. The analysis has yielded contradictory results, so it is impossible to determine with certainty the long-term impact of deglobalization on modern science. Nevertheless, the parts of boundary testing that are statistically indisputable indicate a long-term, strong negative impact of these variables on Russian science, while the direction and intensity of individual socio-political variables in today’s rapidly changing conditions are unpredictable. In this regard, there is a need to more clearly define the place of deglobalization processes in modern science.
