Неравномерное развитие регионов России в контексте инфраструктурной финансиализации
The impact of public and private investment in infrastructure on reducing regional inequalities has not yet received sufficient scientific attention, especially in the context of the BRICS countries, in particular in Russia (despite the importance of the problem and its research in a number of countries, in particular in China). Filling this gap, this article is devoted to assessing the impact of infrastructural financialization on the uneven regional development in Russia. Using a Tobit regression model and panel data for the period from 2005 to 2019, the study measures the characteristics of uneven regional development in Russia. Infrastructural financialization is involved as a main explanatory variable. The results show that the development of infrastructural financialization leads to a reduction in the unevenness of regional development in Russia. Despite the fact that the Russian economy is completely focused on public administration, it is necessary to increase the volume of regionally proportional private investment in infrastructure for the convergence of regions. Interestingly, this study differs from previous studies conducted in other countries using similar methodology, highlighting the controversial nature of the topic.
