The ongoing transformations of the late globalization society open the way to the discussion and search for a new theory and practice of design, make us rethink its place and functions in the actual system of production and consumption, different from the model of the consumer society of the second half of the ХХth century. The necessary condition for the advanced development of the design industry is the universality of design principles, their humanistic orientation, which can become a key condition for positive and futureoriented social construction, in which modern design and design education should be included, respectively.
