The features of portrait painting are considered. The importance of interdisciplinary research, which combines historical, genealogical, psychological, socio-economic and other research, is shown. The competencies of a new type researcher were identified and formulated in the context of digital transformation. At the same time, it was shown that there are many problems in this area.
