The purpose of the work was to study the impact of financial situation on the marital status of Russian citizens. The database of the Russian Monitoring of the Economic Situation and Public Health of the Higher School of Economics was used. A multinomial selection model was used. The degree and direction of the influence of financial factors on the marital status of Russian citizens is shown. The difference in the relationship of individual indicators of material well-being to groups of the population in different marital status is characterized.
