Proceedings of CIRMARE 2023. Recovery, Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Buildings
The University of Beira Interior and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro are delighted to co-organize the CIRMARE 2023—VI International Congress on “Recovery, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation of Buildings” in the picturesque city of Covilhã, Portugal, scheduled for December 5, 6, and 7, 2023. Under the overarching theme of “Resilience and Adaptation ofBuildings and Cities to Climate Change,” CIRMARE 2023 aspires to advance our understanding and promote best practices in rehabilitation that bolster the resilience and adaptability of our built
environment. It is our collective commitment to identifying innovative solutions that alignwith the principles of sustainability, addressing the evolving needs of contemporary society.
This international congress serves as an invaluable platform for the exchange of insights, experiences, and knowledge among professionals and researchers dedicated to the restoration, maintenance, and rejuvenation of our built assets and urban centers. The 2023 edition proudly welcomes authors from 36 esteemed institutions located
in different countries and geographies, presenting an array of papers that encompass a diverse range of topics within the realm of architecture, civil engineering, and construction (AEC) activities:

These topics reflect the conference’s focus on advancing knowledge and practices in architecture, civil engineering, and construction, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, resilience, and adaptation to contemporary challenges.
Following an intensive review process, we are proud to announce the acceptance of 76 papers for oral and poster presentations. Additionally, a select set of 55 papers has been curated for this Conference Proceedings. Each submission underwent a rigorous double-blind review by at least three members of the Scientific Committee, ensuring the highest quality of contributions.
It is worth noting that the diverse works included in this Conference Proceedings align with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They specifically contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Renewable and Accessible Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 11 (Sustainable Cities and
Communities), and 13 (Climate Action). We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the authors who submitted their invaluable work to the conference.
