Методы измерения эмоциональной дифференцированности: сравнительный анализ
Emotion differentiation is the construct that reflects the granularity of emotional experience; in other words, it shows how well an individual differentiates his/her emotions. Emotion differentiation predicts the effectiveness of emotion regulation and psychological well-being. A number of methods for measuring emotion differentiation have been proposed, however, little is known about the comparability of their results. The present research aimed at the development of the Russian versions of the three methods for measuring emotion differentiation, their adaptation, and the analysis of the comparability of their results. Two of these methods, SRT and PED-task, were laboratory and one was based on 10 days experience sampling. The sample included 107 participants aged from 18 to 44 (M = 24.22, SD = 6.35, 88 females and 22 males). The reliability of obtained emotion differentiation measures was good or satisfactory (between .64 and .85). Measures obtained through laboratory methods positively correlated among each other, while did not correlate to measures derived from experience sampling data. This result shows that laboratory and experience sampling methods measure different aspects of emotion differentiation or even different constructs. The method based on emotion differentiation seems to be preferrable since it has higher ecological validity and provides rich additional information about general emotional background and emotional variability and dynamics.
