Связь выраженности нарциссических черт личности и представлений о коррупционных действиях
In this article, the authors turn to the study of narcissism as a character trait associated with low empathy and self-control, preventing the suppression of deviant behavior, disinterest in the problems of others, confidence in superiority over others with the assumption of the relationship of this phenomenon with the ideas of corrupt actions. The purpose of the study was to study the relationship between narcissism and perceptions of corrupt actions based on color-coding of corrupt situations imprinted in the mass consciousness. Materials and methods. An online study was carried out, in which 687 people took part (54 % men, 46 % women). The toolkit included a 40-point questionnaire ‟Narcissistic Personality Questionnaire” (NOL) (R. Raskin, H. Terry), a 10-point questionnaire ‟Scale of sensitive Narcissism” (HSNS) (H.M. Hendin, J.M. Cheek) and a 59-point authors’ questionnaire ‟Perceptions of corrupt actions”. The data was processed using the SPSS 19.0 program. The results of the study allow us to conclude that corrupt behavior is determined not only by the process of using official authority for their own purposes, but also by the social role of the beneficiary: the actions of officials and representatives of law enforcement agencies that have a corrupt orientation cause a reaction of disapproval to a greater extent, and illegal actions of employees of the pedagogical sphere (teachers, counselors, coaches, that is, professions of the helping sphere) are presented as the most acceptable. In addition, negative correlations were found between narcissism and the age of respondents, with the subjective level of income, as well as with the degree of religiosity. Narcissism turned out to be negatively associated with the values of the “black corruption” scale and positively with tolerance to “white corruption”, while sensitive or covert narcissism was negatively associated with the values of the “gray corruption” scale and also positively with the acceptance of “white corruption”. It was revealed that acceptance of white corruption is positively correlated with indicators on the scales of “demonstration”, “vanity” and “superiority”, and loyalty to black corruption, on the contrary, is negatively related to indicators of these scales of narcissism. The values of the “demonstrativeness” and “vanity” scales made the greatest contribution to the correlation of the integral indicator of the “Narcissistic Personality Questionnaire” methodology with the types of ideas about corrupt practices. Research findings: The classic narcissist demonstrated a markedly adaptive attitude towards corruption, condemning black corruption and tolerating white corruption. Gray corruption remained “in the gray zone” of his ideas about corrupt acts. The covert (vulnerable) narcissist is also loyal to white corruption, but does not accept and condemns gray corruption. The “gray zone” of his ideas about acts of corruption was black corruption.
