Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

С. 35–38.

The paper is dedicated to the critical analysis of M. Tegmark’s concept of mathematical universe. Tegmark suggests an ontology based on fundamental mathematical structures. Such approach explains, for example, the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics and the nature of randomness. It also unifies leading cosmological multiverse theories under one mathematical multiverse. Tegmark combines platonist, realist and structuralist views. However, author’s elimination of objects’ intrinsic properties raises certain questions and problems. In particular, this leads to them losing their already present identity. The same happens to the objectifies structures. Besides, the possibility of inferring physical from structural implies that ontology cannot be purely structural. Notwithstanding its advantages and popularity, the concept of mathematical universe may be developed and improved by the means of critical philosophical analysis.

The paper analyzes some varieties of structural realism and proposes an expanded version of information structural realism (ISR). The version of non-eliminative ontic structural realism (OSR), which accepts entities and structures as ontological primitives and denies the existence of theoretical objects, is criticized. Arguments are given from the field of philosophy of science and physics ...

The relevance of Uexküll’s Umwelt concept for the modern ecological discourse
Knyazeva H., International Journal of Global Environmental Issues 2024 Vol. 23 No. 2/3 P. 305–318
The article substantiates the worldview significance of the Umwelt concept introduced by Jakob von Uexküll for the development of strategic imperatives of ecological thinking and of environmental policies. The study lies at the crossroads of four areas: ecological philosophy, ethics, complex systems theory, and futures studies. Modern futures studies are largely based on a complex system ...

The work substantiates that in the ideas of cybernetics (N. Wiener, W.R. Ashby) and second-order cybernetics (H. von Foerster) one can find the historical origins of constructivism theories, which are very popular in various fields of modern science, including epistemological constructivism, linguistic constructivism and social constructivism. The construction and proliferation of worlds in consciousness, the ...

The article analyzes the idea of a multiplicity of worlds as virtual ones. Gained its popularity in the second half of the 20th century, such an approach states that the universe can be considered as information – as a set of bits and logical operations with them (or as program code). The hypothesis substantiates the information ...

Consistency and Some Other Requirements of a Formal Theory in the Context of Multiverse Models
Karpenko I., Studia Humana 2024 Vol. 13 No. 4 P. 23–34
The paper is devoted to the problem of describing reality in the language of mathematics and logic in connection with intellectual intuition. The question raised is how the basic requirements of mathematical theory and logic will change if some of the multiverse models of modern physics are taken as the basis. Mathematics is considered in ...

The article discusses the idea of the plurality of worlds of human consciousness and animal psyche from the perspective of the conception of enactivism, philosophical phenomenology and complexity theory. It is shown that the multiversality of consciousness can be associated not only with its different states (sleep, wakefulness, extreme and altered states, personal and transpersonal ...

Ecosemiotics is a clear example of a recently emerging interdisciplinary field of scientific research that arose at the junction of a number of scientific areas: the study of living organisms as operating signs in biosemiotics, the analysis of spatio-temporal patterns of ecosystem interaction in landscape ecology, and the study of living organisms themselves and their ...

The aim of the paper is to interpret M. Tegmark’s concept of the mathematical universe. The first part of the paper describes the development of the concept. Main ontological features are provided and analyzed using the ontic structural realism and mathematical platonism frameworks. Tegmark combines radically some of the aspects of these frameworks. The second ...

The article considers the meaning and content of the concept of ecological landscape. The author shows that the ecological landscapes of plant and animal organisms, fungi, and microorganisms are built and modified through the processes of semiosis, the signification of environmental elements, and mutual recognition of signs. Landscapes are complex networks of interactions between organisms and ...
