The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Transitivity in Pairwise Comparisons and the Heterogeneity of Psychological Attributes
Yulia Tyumeneva, Sudorgina Y., Basic and Applied Social Psychology 2024 Vol. 46 No. 5 P. 314–320
Likert scales rely on the assumption that psychological attributes are ordinal, meaning that the attribute levels a, b, and c are in transitive relations. Testing transitivity is possible through pairwise comparisons of attribute levels. Previous tests showed that people can violate transitivity, which calls into question the basic assumption of rating scales. We hypothesized that ...

Secret reserve prices by uninformed sellers
Andreyanov P., Caoui E. H., Quantitative Economics 2022 Vol. 13 No. 3 P. 1203–1256
If bidders are better informed than the seller about a common component of auction heterogeneity, the seller can allocate more efficiently by keeping her reserve price secret and revising it using submitted bids. We build a model of a first-price auction under unobserved auction heterogeneity—imperfectly observed by the seller—that captures this rationale and derive conditions ...
