The purpose of this article is to analyze the mechanisms for promoting renewables, which include the displacement of coal from the power industry, feed-in-tariffs and subsidies. Currently, Germany is a pioneer in the introduction of renewable energy in the electric power industry. European countries are leaders in subsidizing installations and connecting renewables. A new mechanism for promoting renewable energy has been the establishment of mandates for photovoltaics. Subsidization of hydrogen projects is increasing by European energy companies.
