The proceedings present the main achievements in thematic mapping in recent years. It notes the progress achieved by the V.B. Sochava Institute of Geography SB RAS over 65 years in various research areas of thematic mapping and the creation of fundamental thematic series of maps and atlases. The history and traditions of thematic mapping are considered. Modern concepts and models of the scientific content of maps and atlases, new way of thinking in the development of methods and technologies for mapping are analyzed. The contours of new scientific and educational concepts of thematic mapping, creation and use of atlases are outlined. Interesting findings of young scientists, students and graduate students are presented. The proceedings are published as edited by the authors.
