Немецкие историки на страже “границ истории”: несостоявшийся диалог с исторической беллетристикой
The article is devoted to the confrontation between the professional community of German historians and one of the most popular historical fiction writers of the first half of the XX century – Emil Ludwig. It is demonstrated how the established norms of the professional community in the new historical conditions of the "crisis of historicism" predetermined the behavior of historians. A special issue of the "Historical Journal" devoted entirely to the defamation of popular historical biography and fiction writers is analyzed. The author believes that professional historians in the competition for the monopoly on the interpretation of German history missed a great chance to regain the attention of the mass reader and start a conversation about the overdue theoretical and methodological changes.
