This book is about the youngest world theistic religion, the number of followers of which in the modern world is 1.6 billion people, or 23% of the world's population. The purpose of the author is to give the reader an initial understanding of the Muslim scripture - the Koran, the sacred tradition - the Sunnah, Islamic law - Sharia, cult practices, doctrinal provisions about God, man, angels, prophets, ideas about the last Judgment and predestination. In the appendices, the reader will find brief information about the main trends in Islam: Sunnism, Shiism, Kharijism and Muslim mysticism - Sufism. The book is supplied with a dictionary of Arabic terms and a list of recommended literature.
