The thesis is put forward that the methodological approaches of Kara-Murza’s research are refined and adjusted each time depending on the characteristics of the studied object, phenomenon, event, also determining the genre specifics of the works. The aim of the scientist is to discover both a new fact and a new meaning, which gives an increase in knowledge and ideas about the complex cultural and historical dynamics of the formation of the civilizational community of Russia in the XVII–XX centuries. Working at the intersection of philosophy of history and intellectual history, Kara-Murza conceptualizes traditional political, philosophical and cultural philosophical themes for these disciplinary fields under the sign of personal history, where the individual becomes the main actor of socio-historical and cultural development.
