"Устная история" в дневниках Ц. Дамдинсурэна
Oral tradition has occupied a large place in the literature of the Mongols since ancient times. This is due to the nomadic way of life and to the rare population scattered over vast territories and forced to exchange news and knowledge by word of mouth. Such intensive functioning of the oral form of transmission of various texts has been preserved even at the present time. The tradition of using oral narratives in the functional sphere, in particular in the preservation and translation of historical facts, "documentation" of the past has given rise to such genres as "oral history" ("aman tuuh"), "oral memories" ("huuch yaria"), "memories", "oral story" ("yaria"), which have become very popular in recent decades. The initiator of this genre in Mongolian literature can be considered akad. Ts. Damdinsuren. The diaries of Ts. Damdinsuren, which he conducted from 1956 to 1986, contain materials that he later used in his publications of "oral histories".
