The book is devoted to the evolution of the modern Russian family, changes in the family structure and the structure of households. A family with a complete married couple and minor children, as well as an incomplete family are considered. The non-identity of single-parent families, formed as a “mother project” and included in this category as a result of divorce or
widowhood. It is proved that the resulting diversity of family types is based on gender patterns
world, formed in adolescence and youth. Stability of marriage and family
relationships is analyzed from the standpoint of their intimacy, deep personalization and trust. The canonical attributes of a “normal” childhood are brightly highlighted and evolution is traced
concepts of the sociology of childhood. The need to have children and possible alternatives are presented from an economic point of view: investing in a child and expecting a return on investment.
The results of the analysis of intergenerational relations in changing social and family contexts are considered. In studying the influence of the family on the life path of the child/children, the emphasis is on
choice of educational trajectory. One section of the book is devoted to the well-being of children,
left without parental care. The types of families with negative parenthood are singled out - "suppliers" of children to specialized institutions. Types of guardianship are analyzed in detail and the likely outcomes of the life path of those who have moved beyond care and entered into independent adulthood.
