Annotation: This case is designed to introduce non-technical students to data science, machine learning, and predictive analytics. The case examines the online retailer Deliver2.me, who face the problem of supplier reliability. One possible solution to this problem is to use Data Science models to classify suppliers based on credibility. The main questions that arise for the company's management are how to measure the expected effect of investments in Data Science, and how to select specialists with the required level of competence.
The case introduces basic technical concepts of Data Science for executive decision making and can be used in data science electives in postgraduate, MBA, and EMBA programmes in management, including strategic management, logistics, HR. It can be integrated into introduction to data science for Business Informatics, Business Analytics and e-Business.
