The present paper is an experimental investigation of tempo and pause variation in speech and the role it plays in public speaking of American men. The aim of the research was to find out which prosodic parameter affected the perception of tempo and how a person should keep one’s timing to be well-understood, to make sure their speech is intelligible, comprehensible.
