СИНТАКСИЧЕСКИЙ СДВИГ ИМЯ – ГЛАГОЛ (НА МАТЕРИАЛЕ ДРЕВНЕКИТАЙСКИХ ТЕКСТОВ)
This paper deals with the cross-categorical noun-verb shift on the material of ancient Chinese texts. In the ancient Chinese language, there are a number of nominal lexemes that can be used as a predicate. We are interested in the low-frequency predicative functions of nominal lexemes, specifically 皮 (pí – *bhaj) 'skin' / ' to tear the skin off' and 袖 (xiù – *lhuh) 'sleeve' / 'to hide in the sleeve': (1) what are criteria for highlighting this kind of nominal lexemes? (2) what are the reasons for cross-categorical shift? (3) are such cases statistically significant for studying the problems of parts of speech flexibility? The article puts forward a hypothesis about probable individual (author's) word-formation. In support are given data on the possible varieties of a character; data on the hieroglyphs of the same phonetic series; data on the time of the creation of certain text that coincided with the beginning of the development of author’s literature in Ancient China (Han 206 BC - 220 AD). In fact, lexemes such as 皮 * bhaj ‘skin’ and 袖 * lhuh ‘sleeve’ are exceptions in some cases of the syntactic shift of the noun-predicate. The inclusion of such cases in the general statistics seems rather impractical.
