The paper analizes the existing potential of country's cultural heritage, which takes into account various types of heritage, including those not shown in official statistics.The issues of statistical accounting of cultural heritage are considered and attention is drawn to statistical paradoxes in accounting of heritage objects. Attention is drawn to the role of that heritage can play as a kind of driver for the development of Russian territories.
