HSE Researchers Make Aldehydes Perform Dual Function
Chemists from HSE University have discovered a way to carry out a reductive addition reaction without using an external reducing agent. Instead, the required 'resource' is supplied by the aldehyde itself, one of the reaction participants. This approach helps prevent unwanted side reactions, reduces toxicity, and simplifies the production and synthesis of organic molecules, including those used in the manufacture of medicines. The study has been published in Journal of Catalysis.

We describe a new recommender system for the Russian interactive radio network FMhost. The new recommender model combines collaborative and user-based approaches. The system extracts information from tags of listened tracks for matching user and radio station profiles and follows an adaptive online learning strategy based on user history. We also provide some basic examples and describe the quality of service evaluation methodology.

Analytical Model of QoS-aware Streaming in Wi-Fi Networks via Periodic TXOPs
Ivanov A., Khorov E., Lyakhov A., , in: Proceedings of Global Communication Conference (GlobeCom) 2015, ETFWLAN Workshop.: IEEE, 2015.
To improve Wi-Fi performance in scenarios with high collision probability, recent amendments to the Wi- Fi standard introduce a number of channel access methods based on preliminary channel time reservations. A common feature of these methods is that channel time is reserved in a periodic manner. Unfortunately, having defined a number of channel reservation methods, ...

Modelling Deterministic Channel Access in Millimetre Wave Wi-Fi
Ivanov A., Khorov E., Lyakhov A., , in: Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS) 2015.: IEEE, 2015.
Due to the scarcity of license exempt spectrum at low frequencies, next generation multi-gigabit wireless communication will use 60 GHz. Propagation characteristics make impossible to use omnidirectional high-rate low-power transmission at long distances. As for directional transmission, it cannot be efficient with random channel access while the usage of deterministic one even in the state-of-the-art ...

Ivanov A., Khorov E.,

Stop-and-Wait ARQ
Ivanov A., Khorov E.,

Ivanov A., Khorov E.,

Analytical model of batch flow multihop transmission in wireless networks with channel reservations
Ivanov A., Khorov E., Lyakhov A., Automation and Remote Control 2015 Vol. 76 No. 7 P. 1179–1192
The IEEE 802.11s standard of Wi-Fi Mesh networking introduces a novel deterministic channel access mechanism called MCCA. This mechanism allows stations to reserve distinct time intervals for their data transmission. Since each station is informed about their neighbouring stations' reservations, it does not transmit during them leading to less packet losses due to packets collisions. ...
