Analytical Model of QoS-aware Streaming in Wi-Fi Networks via Periodic TXOPs
.
To improve Wi-Fi performance in scenarios with high collision probability, recent amendments to the Wi- Fi standard introduce a number of channel access methods based on preliminary channel time reservations. A common feature of these methods is that channel time is reserved in a periodic manner. Unfortunately, having defined a number of channel reservation methods, the amendments say nothing on how much channel time shall be reserved to transmit a stream with required quality of service and minimal channel resource consumption. In this paper, we develop a mathematical model of streaming via periodic reservations which helps to answer this question.

The development of musical abilities, including absolute pitch, musical memory, rhythm sense, and musicality, at a high degree is determined by a hereditary component (up to 68 %). The studies implementing a genome-wide linkage and association approach to musical aptitude have revealed more than 100 genetic loci. This spectrum is comprised of the genes encoding ...

In this paper, Grinin et al. survey general similarities and differences between biological and social macroevolution and phases of Big History. The comparison of biological and social evolution is an important but (regrettably) understudied subject. The authors have endeavored to make a systematic comparison between biological and social evolution at different levels of analysis and ...

We propose a mathematical model of the human cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The cardiovascular segment of the model simulates the main heart rate, oscillating blood pressure, peripheral vascular resistance, and nonlinear dynamics of the autonomic control of circulation, namely α- and βsympathetic and parasympathetic control. The respiratory part includes central pattern generator, lungs, and a ...

A key feature of 5G systems is the Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (URLLC), which can be used for remote surgery, smart grids, industrial control, etc. URLLC requires millisecond-level delays and very high reliability, i.e., less than 10−5 packet loss probability. The ability to satisfy these very strict quality of service requirements depends on selecting the Modulation and Coding ...

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a well-accepted technology for future Wi-Fi systems to improve spectral efficiency. NOMA allows an access point (AP) to simultaneously serve multiple devices by splitting the transmit power between them. Using the superposition coding the AP combines signals of different frames with predefined power weights. However, as it is already known, ...
