This work differs from most modern translation works in some peculiarities and innovative techniques. Firstly, this manual is not limited to a selection of relevant texts for training sight translation skills on economic and political topics. It is written for everyone who works with a foreign language and wants to broaden their horizons. Secondly, the manual contains material on editorial editing, a section on the main features of the Russian and English languages ​​in the framework of translation practice, exercises on the knowledge of international organizations, specialized terminology, and biblical terms. By its structure, the manual is divided into three parts and six appendices. In the first part, readers are offered an overview of current theoretical calculations, professional tips - some fixed expressions on political and economic topics. The second part contains texts for sheet translation and assignments to them. The texts serve as a good help in order to get in the know about the events taking place in the world. The exercises contained in the third part contribute to the formation of a deeper knowledge of the English language, reveal some little-known aspects of the functioning of the language, and also allow the reader to feel like a two-way interpreter of an interview. It also contains vocabulary exercises, punctuation material for the English language, and many other tips for a novice translator. The authors wish luck and patience to those mastering the craft of translator!
