Entropic-Wasserstein Barycenters: PDE Characterization, Regularity, and CLT

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis. 2021. Vol. 53. No. 5. P. 5880–5914.
Carlier G., Eichinger K., Kroshnin A.

In this paper, we investigate properties of entropy-penalized Wasserstein barycenters introduced in [J. Bigot, E. Cazelles, and N. Papadakis, SIAM J. Math. Anal., 51 (2019), pp. 2261--2285] as a regularization of Wasserstein barycenters [M. Agueh and G. Carlier, SIAM J. Math. Anal., 43 (2011), pp. 904--924]. After characterizing these barycenters in terms of a system of Monge--Ampère equations, we prove some global moment and Sobolev bounds as well as higher regularity properties. We finally establish a central limit theorem for entropic-Wasserstein barycenters.

Linear dependencies, polynomial factors in the Duke–Erdős forbidden sunflower problem
Kupavskii A., Noskov F., Forum of Mathematics, Sigma 2026 Vol. 14 Article 124
We call a family of $s$ sets $\{F_1, \ldots, F_s\}$ a sunflower with $s$ petals if, for any distinct $i, j \in [s]$, one has $F_i \cap F_j = \cap_{u = 1}^s F_u$. The set $C = \cap_{u = 1}^s F_u$ is called the {\it core} of the sunflower. It is a classical result of ...

Modulational Instability and Wave Dynamics in the Rotated Modified Gardner–Whitham Equation
Flamarion M. V., Pelinovsky E., Chaos, Solitons and Fractals 2026 Vol. 213 No. 2 Article 119245
This article concerns the study of modulational instability in the rotated-modified Gardner–Whitham (rmGW) equation. This model incorporates both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities, similarly to the Gardner equation, while also retaining the fully dispersive character of the Whitham equation together with a large-scale dispersive term analogous to that in the Ostrovsky equation. Using a classical multiple-scale asymptotic expansion, we ...

Space-Time Fluctuations in a Quasi-static Limit
Bernardin C., Gonçalves P., Olla S., Mathematical Physics Analysis and Geometry 2024 Vol. 27 No. 7
We consider the macroscopic limit for the space-time density fluctuations in the open symmetric simple exclusion in the quasi-static scaling limit. We prove that the distribution of these fluctuations converge to a gaussian space-time field that is delta correlated in time but with long-range correlations in space. ...

To spike or not to spike: the whims of the Wonham filter in the strong noise regime
Bernardin C., Chhaibi R., Najnudel J. et al., Probability Theory and Related Fields 2026 Vol. 195 P. 1823–1875
We study the celebrated Shiryaev-Wonham filter (Wonham, W.M., in J. Soc. Ind. Appl. Math. 347–369, 1964) in its historical setup, where the hidden Markov jump process has two states. We are interested in the weak noise regime for the observation equation. Interestingly, this becomes a strong noise regime for the filtering equations. Earlier results of ...

Explicit Formula for Inverse and Determinant in Geometric Algebras over Odd-dimensional Vector Spaces
Abdulkhaev K., Shirokov D., Advances in Applied Clifford Algebras 2026 Vol. 36 P. 1–21
In this paper, we present explicit formulas for the inverse and determinant in geometric (Clifford) algebras over vector spaces of dimension n = 7. The derivation of these formulas is made possible by generalizing the concept of conjugation to basis conjugation operations. We further develop a general method for constructing such formulas over odd-dimensional spaces ...

Graphon spin systems as exactly solvable models
Medvedev G., Alexandrov Artem, Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics 2026 Vol. 114 Article 044102
Graphons are measurable functions used to describe the asymptotic behavior of convergent graph families. Originally motivated by problems in combinatorics and graph theory, graphons have found numerous applications in the modeling and analysis of dynamical processes on networks. In this work, we use graphons to formulate the Ising model on convergent graph sequences, which include ...

Консервативные энтропийно и энергетически корректные разностные методы для одномерных квазигазодинамических систем уравнений
Zlotnik A., Математические заметки 2026 Т. 120 № 6 С. 1005–1009

Random walks on rank one symmetric spaces of noncompact type
Gnetov F., Konakov V., / Series arXiv "math". 2025. No. 2512.04667.
We establish a central limit theorem, a local limit theorem, and a law of large numbers for a natural random walk on a symmetric space M of non-compact type and rank one. This class of spaces, which includes the complex and quaternionic hyperbolic spaces and the Cayley hyperbolic plane, generalizes the real hyperbolic space Hn. Our approach introduces ...

Multi-normex distributions for the sum of random vectors. Rates of convergence
Kratz M., Prokopenko E., Extremes 2023 Vol. 26 No. 3 P. 509–544
We build a sharp approximation of the whole distribution of the sum of iid heavy-tailed random vectors, combining mean and extreme behaviors. It extends the so-called ’normex’ approach from a univariate to a multivariate framework. We propose two possible multi-normex distributions, named d-Normex and MRV-Normex. Both rely on the Gaussian distribution for describing the mean behavior, ...

Asymptotic Properties of a Statistical Estimator of the Jeffreys Divergence: The Case of Discrete Distributions
Glinskiy V., Artem Logachov, Logachova O. et al., Mathematics 2024 Vol. 12 No. 21 Article 3319
We investigate the asymptotic properties of the plug-in estimator for the Jeffreys divergence, the symmetric variant of the Kullback–Leibler (KL) divergence. This study focuses specifically on the divergence between discrete distributions. Traditionally, estimators rely on two independent samples corresponding to two distinct conditions. However, we propose a one-sample estimator where the condition results from a ...

Note on normal approximation for number of triangles in heterogeneous Erdos-Renyi graph
Logachov A.V., Mogulskii A. A., Yambartsev A. A., Siberian Electronic Mathematical Reports 2024 Vol. 21 No. 2 P. 914–926
We obtain a bound for the convergence rate in the central limit theorem for the number of triangles in a heterogeneous Erdos-Renyi graphs. Our approach is reminiscent of Hoeffding decomposition (a common technique in the theory of U-statistics). We show that the centered and normalized number of triangles asymptotically behaves as the normalized sum of ...

From Classical to Modern Nonlinear Central Limit Theorems
Ulyanov V. V., Mathematics 2024 Vol. 12 No. 14 Article 2276
In 1733, de Moivre, investigating the limit distribution of the binomial distribution, was the first to discover the existence of the normal distribution and the central limit theorem (CLT). In this review article, we briefly recall the history of classical CLT and martingale CLT, and introduce new directions of CLT, namely Peng’s nonlinear CLT and ...
