This paper aims to analyze the role of education in the philosophy of the actual idealist philosopher Giovanni Gentile. The analysis is based on Gentile’s works “The reform of education” (1920) and “Sommario di Pedagogia”(1923). The paper also outlines the basic features of the educational reform made by Gentile in 1922 – 1924 while working as a Minister of education in the Mussolini government.
