The book presents the main prose texts of Mandelstam - "The Noise of Time", "Feodosia", "Egyptian Stamp", "Fourth Prose" and "Journey to Armenia" - what we conditionally called "big prose". This is the "poet's prose", but very specific one: its echo with Mandelstam's poetry is obvious, although not at first glance. Four out of five "prose" were published during Mandelstam's lifetime, between 1925 and 1933, three of them even twice. At the same time, censorship thoroughly mutilated only the fifth prose - "A Journey to Armenia". The "fourth" one did not suffer from censorship at all: it was so uncensorable that paved its way to the reader, bypassing periodicals - exclusively through samizdat and tamizdat. The book presents a textologically verified collection, provided with a detailed commentary created especially for this edition.
