The paper discusses the metaphoric projection of SOCIAL CONTRACT as a concept represented in the American Mass Media texts of the COCA corpus. The authors conclude that one of the key conceptual metaphors of the system is ‘SOCIAL CONTRACT IS BUILDING’. The research has also revealed a set of features of the BUILDING itself as an integral part of the projection.
