Особенности классификации арабских стран
The difficulty in classifying Arab countries lies in the fact that they differ from each other –
qualitatively and quantitatively sometimes by orders of magnitude; and, together with similarities, generally
have more than a number of differences. It is in the setup of various indices and ratings that this profound
variance comes to the forefront. Arab countries can be said to be a cohesive geographic region, which allows
studying a number of problems across the board. However, the key distinctive feature of this region is its
high degree of ethnic and religious heterogeneity, which, in addition to local economic difficulties, is a major
cause for conflicts and tensions in these Middle East countries. Unsurprisingly, therefore, the study of Arab
countries is becoming more and more complex commensurately with the complexity of political processes
and economic relations within what is commonly called the “Arab world”.
