The serious economic and political crisis in Venezuela weakened its foreign policy opportunities. The decline of the oil production and the drop of world fuel prices led to a decrease in the effectiveness of the Caracas’s energy diplomacy. At the same time, the end of the left political cycle in Latin America and the loss of the attractiveness of the Bolivarian ideas were reasons of the pressure from the international community on the Nicholas Maduro regime. Chavistas have appeared in the growing isolation. Under these conditions, the country's leadership needed to reform the course in the international arena, to make it more adequate to the new time, and to normalize relations with the world's largest economies. But internal disagreements and the government’s attempts to use diplomacy to mobilize society became a serious obstacle in the implementation of these plans
