HSE Graduates AI Project Wins at TECH & AI Awards
Daria Davydova, graduate of the HSE Graduate School of Business and Head of the AI Implementation Unit at the Artificial Intelligence Department of Alfa-Bank, received a prize at the TECH & AI Awards. The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Словообразовательные средства выражения рациональной и эмоциональной оценки в заголовках электронных медиа

The article analyzes word-formation means of expressing rational and emotional assessment in the headlines of electronic media texts. To achieve this goal, the content analysis method is used to examine the media texts (the corpora of the texts, formed by the continuous sampling method, contains 515 texts), the structural-semantic and pragmatic analysis methods are used to examine neologisms as part of the headings. Thus, the negative emotional assessment, revealed on the studied material, allows us to identify active word-formation formats, models and methods of creating new formations that are relevant in the aspect of the pragmatic function of the media text implementation.
