The article raises the question of the relationship of communicative cultures that determine the activities of any actors in the communicative process, with fundamental cultures, which encompass all aspects of the life and activities of people living in different sociocultural systems. It is shown that at present three main cultures coexist in any society: traditional (archaic) culture; culture of an industrial society (modern), culture of a post-industrial society (postmodern). Within each of these cultures, a corresponding communicative culture is formed: technocratic, scientistic and humanitarian. Due to the contradictions between these cultures, the adaptation of people to life in modern society is very difficult.
