HSE Researchers Show How Congenital Motor Disorders Affect Brain Development
Researchers from HSE University’s Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience have synthesised the findings of their previous studies on brain development in children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy and arthrogryposis. Their analysis shows that impaired motor function in early childhood not only limits children’s motor experience but also affects memory, categorical thinking, and information processing. The study has been published in Frontiers in Psychology.

Window into the Body: Scientists Develop Neural Network to Detect Risk of 15 Diseases from Retinal Images
Russian universities, with the participation of HSE University, Sber, and Z-union, have developed a neural network that can simultaneously assess the risk of 15 types of pathology from retinal photographs, including not only eye diseases but also cardiovascular conditions. The AI system can help clinicians detect potentially concerning changes at an early stage, identify signs reflecting the condition of retinal blood vessels, and determine whether a patient may need further examination. The paper has been published in Frontiers in Medicine.

Mṣalyanuṯā 6.

2020. Т. III. № 62. С. 31–57.
Muraviev A.

The" Library "of Patriarch Photius, Codex 52 contains evidence of the Acts of the Council of Side, which is used to be taken as one of the main elements of the "anti-messalian dossier" in the Byzantine Church tradition. Whether this Council took place in fact and in what form is not known. However, the available data suggest a great deal of confusion and possibly falsification of its entire story. The main characters (Lampetius, Sabba, Dadoes etc) from the Syriac side look like fictitious. From the comparison of the names with the Syriac documents (Philoxeni Ad Patricium) follows, that , the chief heretic – "Lampetius/ Malpatius"  is a fictitious figure. Behind him hides the Syrian Adelphius, a disciple of St. Julian Sabba. The history of "messalianism" in the light of a new perspective of the research on the Late Antique heresiology appears as a great misunderstanding, caused by the conflict of ascetic models. The Syriac model was based on the idea of apotage (disconnection from the world), which three hundred years later was fully adopted in the Greek asceticism. The dossier of the "messalian heresy" (connected with Ps.-Macarius writings) was further used against the new releigous movements of the Middle Ages (paulicianism, bogomilism). Historical inconsistencies in the middle-century anti-heretic literature ceased to confuse readers, because the whole history of "messianism" turned into a myth.

Silene Noctiflora, 2026.

Nomos e poikilía dell'Essere. Genesi metafisica del molteplice. Una deduzione schellinghiana
Dezi A., Sesto San Giovanni: Mimesis, 2026.
This book is a metaphysical inquiry into the nature and origin of the manifold. Taking Schelling’s Erlangen lectures of 1820–1821 as its point of departure and hermeneutic horizon, it develops an interpretation of Nomos that transcends its political, juridical, and social determinations. Nomos thereby emerges as the ontological principle of an infinite, variegated multiplicity of ...

The Vocabulary of a Heresy: The Case of Iconoclasm
Lukhovitskiy L., Byzantinoslavica 2025 Vol. 83 No. 1-2 P. 108–122
The academic vocabulary used to describe the Iconoclastic Controversy in Byzantium includes both authentic Middle Greek lexemes and artificial terms coined in 16th–17th-century Western Europe, developed in the context of Reformation theological debates. The former category is largely represented by terms referring to the so-called Iconoclasts (εἰκονομάχοι, εἰκονοκλάσται, εἰκονοκαῦ[σ]ται), while the latter includes designations for ...

«Обвинители христиан»: История одного ересиологического термина
Lukhovitskiy L., Индоевропейское языкознание и классическая филология 2025 Т. 29 № 1 С. 1059–1079
This article examines the historical semantics of the post-classical Greek word χριστιανοκατήγορος (literally, “an accuser of Christians”). While its existence in the early Byzantine period is doubtful — there is only one isolated occurrence, which had no impact on later tradition and may even be a 10th-century correction — after the Second Council of Nicaea ...

Lukhovitskiy L., Scrinium: Journal of Patrology and Critical Hagiography 2025 Vol. 21 No. 1 P. 342–359
A profession of faith preserved in Princeton MS 180 (13th century, 2nd half) is wrongly indexed in the catalogue of Greek manuscripts at Princeton and the database Pinakes as an unpublished text by Germanos I, patriarch of Constantinople (715–730). Upon closer examination, it appears to be a later compilation that draws upon at least three ...

Hagiography of the Palaiologan period
Lukhovitskiy L., , in: The Routledge Handbook of Rewriting in Byzantium.: Routledge, 2025. Ch. 4.3 P. 328–344.
The chapter provides a reassessment of the two interpretative models used for the analysis of Palaeologan hagiography, the ‘old saints’ paradigm and the ‘metaphrasis’ paradigm. After a concise description of the sources, the argument develops in three steps. Firstly, a distinction is drawn between the two dichotomies—‘old’ vs ‘new’ saints and ‘rewritings’ vs ‘original compositions’. ...
