Overview of history of debate on the Anglo-Saxon immigration into post-Roman England, and critical review of archaeological, textual, biological and environmental evidence. The article presents the author's own model which suggests a Germanic minority immigration from the Continent, and a gradual acculturation of the native British population over the course of the 5th to 8th centuries AD, drawing primarily on archaeological, anthropological and modern DNA data.
