Проблема поддержки позиции Японии в отношении КНДР и КНР со стороны Европейского Союза
In order to confront the main security challenges coming from North Korea and China, Japan seeks to gather support from important political powers. Japan enjoys support from the United States of America - her main political ally, while the position of another Western like-minded partner, the European Union, is more complex. The first and most fierce threat that comes from North Korea meets full understanding in Brussels. However, Brussels - Tokyo cooperation in this field is limited to adoption of joint resolutions and is unlikely to spread beyond this form of support. In Japan - China territorial dispute Brussels prefers to stay neutral, as it does in all other territorial disputes where China is engaged. The reason is the EU has deep economic ties with this East Asian power and tends not to criticize its policy, which often violates international norms and principles the EU stands for. The article analyses in details the factors that contribute to formation of such an EU's stance towards main Japans security threats.
