Ryazan Region is one of the Russian regions that has deeply stagnated over the past decade. To solve this problem, the federal authorities often attract the governors-«varyags», effective regional managers, who have proven themselves in the leadership of other regions of the Russian Federation. Nikolay Lyubimov, one of the authors of the «Kaluga economic miracle», appointed firstly as an officer-in-charge of governor and then elected as a governor of the Ryazan Region, is such kind of «manager». In this article, the authors try to identify the strengths and weaknesses of both the external and internal political positioning of the new governor Nikolai Lyubimov after more than 1.5 years of being at the helm of Ryan region by use of discourse analysis and also to develop recommendations to improve the image of the governor and the growth of his political stability.
