Свет Христов просвещает всех : Альманах Свято-Филаретовского православно-христианского института. 2011. № 4. С. 36-54.
Michael Seleznev. Russian Bible: between the Masoretic Text and the Septuagint. The article lays down a short overview of history of the so-called Synodal translation of the Bible made in the XIX century and still being the main Russian version of the Bible. The principles of this translation are analyzed. The author also discusses the principles that served as guidelines for a group of Old Testament translators working in 1996–2010 under his leadership within the framework of the Bible Society in Russia (BSR). Their translation of the Old Testament became part of the new edition of the Russian Bible, published by the BSR in 2011.

M. Seleznev. God’s Self-Identification in Exodus 3.14: “I am the Being” or “I am who I am”? Modern Exegesis and Ancient Grammar
The article compares two interpretations of God’s self-definition in Exodus 3:14. The first is the traditional “ontological” interpretation (“I am the One who really is”, “I am the Being”), which is represented in Philo and ...

The Slavonic Bible was translated from Greek revealing textual correlations to the Septuagint.
However in the majority of East Slavic manuscripts one can also observe indubitable Hebrew
influences: there are numerous Hebraisms missing in the Septuagint while manifesting direct Slavic Jewish contacts; they are introduced to correct the traditional Slavonic translation of the biblical text.
These Hebraisms are based ...

The article discusses the semantic difference between the singular and the plural forms of the word νόμος (law) in the Second Book of the Maccabees. In Greek translations of books of the Hebrew canon, the plural νόμοι is used extremely rarely; normally νόμος is used in the singular (there is only one Law of Moses ...

The article deals with the treatment of the so-called anthropomorphisms of the Hebrew Bible in the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures (the Septuagint). By anthropomorphism we mean attribution of human physical form or psychological characteristics to God (e.g. speaking about God’s eyes, God’s hand, God’s repentance etc.). Within the Septuagint some scholars find a ...

The present paper focuses on the meaning of pl. νόμοι in Jer 31/38:33 and Jer 31:36/38:37. The difference between the Hebrew and the Greek texts witnesses to a re-interpretation of Jer 31/38 in the LXX. Differently from the Hebrew original, the Greek text of Jeremiah speaks here not about the Torah of Moses, but rather ...

Replacing מֶלֶך with ἄρχων in the LXX: Self-Censorship or Inner Development of the Jewish Tradition?
Seleznev M., , in : Die Septuaginta – Themen, Manuskripte, Wirkungen. : Mohr Siebeck, 2020. P. 302-314.
Theological and ideological changes in the LXX in most cases witness to developments that started long before and continued well after. The Greek translation was but one link – though often the most visible link – in the chain of such developments.
The LXX rendering of מֶלֶך as ἄρχων is a link in the chain of “antimonarchic” developments that started with ...

В статье рассматриваются особенности употребления др.-греч. слова ἀνατολή («восход», «восток») в Септуагинте в сравнении с античной и раннехристианской литературой, а также с языком папирусов. В трех ветхозаветных мессианских пророчествах (Иер 23:5, Зах 3:8, 6:12) в Септуагинте этим словом переводится др.-евр. צֶמַח («отрасль», «росток»). Объясняя такое расхождение между масоретским текстом и Септуагинтой, исследователи обращают внимание на ...

Among different explanations of the peculiar reading πόλις ασεδεκ in Isaiah 19:18, the most
probable seems to be the one that regards this expression as an allusion to עיר הצדק in Isaiah 1:26.
However, observations on the translation technique of the LXX-Isaiah make it dubious that this
allusion was created by the translator of Isaiah himself. Additionally, in ...

During the Byzantine era, the Greek-speaking Church of the Empire exercised a decisive influence on formation of churches and states in the Pax Byzantina. В работе рассматривается цитата из библейской книги Бытия в греческом трактате «О возвышенном» (Περὶ Ὕψους). Выдвигается тезис о том, что различие между цитатой и ее оригиналом вызвано языковой и культурной пропастью между миром грекоязычного иудаизма и миром классической античности, которая привела к неправильному пониманию греческим ритором библейского текста. Выражение Στερέωμα ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ ὕδατος «твердое ...
