СЕМЬЯ ДЛЯ СРЕДНЕДОХОДНЫХ СЛОЕВ НАСЕЛЕНИЯ:ТЫЛ ИЛИ РИСК?
The article is based on the monitoring data of Institute of Sociology RAS, 2016. It examines the socio-demographic characteristics of middle-income groups and pays a particular attention to the household characteristics in terms of the potential risks. The middle-income groups are determined according to the relative approach to social stratification - through comparison of average household income with median of this indicator.
It is shown that the middle income strata, being heterogeneous, is divided into two fundamentally different groups with remarkably different level of economic risks. The lower part of this strata, despite the fact that its income corresponds to the "national average" level, is probably on the verge of vulnerability, being sensitive to the socio-economic instability. Its sociodemographic factors, including the family structure, cause additional risks (high dependency load, big percentage of non-working pensioners in the household, etc.). At the same time the extended family outside the household can provide only limited support for this group.
