This second volume of  Relevant issues in language testing is a reflection of the ongoing innovative interdisciplinary project that has been carried out under the aegis of Saint-Petersburg State University. The project united both overseas and domestic professionals in linguistics, language teaching other relevant areas that  belong to testing. The book covers broad range of actual matters that have to do with language testing, which  has become part and parcel of language learning and teaching.   The paper in question presented in Chapter 8 that deals with IT technologies in test compilation, test assessment as well as reliable interpretation of test results. Firstly, it reveals corpus potential in the areas mentioned. In addition, the article provides some examples of using authentic corpus data for developing content – relevant testing materials. Finally, the author elaborates on corpus statistics use in language testing, which, as it is shown in the article, enables professionals to provide high quality assessment tools at the cutting-edge of corpus liquistics.
