О чувствах и эмоциях в русской языковой картине мира
This publication explores the ways of displaying emotions and feelings in the Russian language image of the world. We can describe it as an emotional state, perception or attitude, but the treatment of emotional substance becomes linguistic study only in case we study a really use of words in itself and independent of any reference to physical or psychological manifestation. According to the National Corpus of Russian language feelings are nourished, shared, awakened, hided, suppressed. In the metaphoric mapping feelings are defined in relation to the elements of other conceptual areas, including resource, fluid, fire, power, etc., determining the choice of attached predicates. By analogy with some resource feelings are collected and wasted; by analogy with an independent force it moves, covers, masters and subordinates the mind; by analogy with a fluid it fills and overflows; by analogy with a fire it can ignite and fade. Such use becomes so common that speakers don't pay more attention to metaphorical expressions but take them almost for the objective characteristic of feelings.
