Россия как противовес между Западом и Востоком на примере международных отношений с Китаем
This research focuses on the assessment of the current Russian-Chinese relations in the context of Russia's traditional role as a state, which is relatively independent of the Western and Eastern civilizations. According to the historical development of Russia, it cannot fully adapt to Western values in spite of the fact that Russia is clearly included in the common European development processes. However, our country is obviously not fully at one with the Asian civilization.
The author of the article reviews the specifics of the current developments in international relations between Russia and China, their main causes, preconditions, and trends. The author concludes that the current Russian-Chinese relations do not have a holistic, systemic nature. We evidence only the development of diplomatic relations based on mutual sympathy of national leaders and a desire to show their independence in the international arena, while there is no real integration in the economic and cultural levels. Moreover, there are absolutely no prerequisites for such integration: the Chinese market is disproportionately larger than the Russian market; there is no sustainable relationship between our cultural paradigms and China does not seek to establish a military-political alliance with Russia. However, this does not mean that any of the two countries somewhat exceeds (or vice versa) the other – Russia and China have completely different paths of their development, which may occasionally overlap without whatsoever synthesis.
