Воспитательная и образовательная ценность художественных произведений при обучении межкультурному профессиональному общению (на материале английского и немецкого языков)

The article addresses one of the ways of optimization of foreign languages teaching in the light of humanization and humanitarization of higher professional education in Russia. There still exists a discrepancy between the necessity to prepare well-rounded and morally sound graduates and the system of training that is oriented towards a specific sphere of professional activity. The solution is to leverage the potential of the subject “Foreign Language”, as it allows attaining practical and educational goals. They can be achieved through systematic usage of modern foreign fiction about professional and business activities. Authentic texts immerse the students into the professional environment of their future colleagues, familiarize them with foreign culture and worldview. Depending on the curriculum and the communicative competence of students one may include such texts into the educational process.
