Le Liber particularis de Michel Scot
This is the first critical edition of the Liber particularis by Michael Scot, a latin cosmological treatise, second part of his monumental Liber introductorius, 1220–1235 ca. The edition is based on ms Bodl. Canon. Misc. 555, collated with mss Vaticano BAV Rossi IX 11 and Milano Ambrosiana L 92 Sup, in order to give to the modern reader a version that had circulated in Italy, in a relatively fixed form, in the first half of the XIIIth century. In the Introduction I give essential data on the mss of the Liber particularis, its place in the work of Michael Scot and in the intellectual context of the Frederick II’s court, and a preliminary attempt inscribing it in the progress of knowledge in the West in the first half of the XIIIth century.
