The article is devoted to the study of the problems of Vietnamese folk poetry and its connection with the Chinese one, as well as the issue of interpretation of the most common images of Vietnamese folk songs. Author opens a subject of interpretation of common folk songs. Inspite common opinion, folk poetry also was influenced by the Chinese tradition. That's why there are a lot of Chinese images in Vietnamese folk song poetry. But Vietnamese people often interpret Chinese symbols and images in their own way, for example, very common image truc and mai, bamboo and plum blossom, is interpreted as “bamboo and another kind of bamboo” or “bamboo and ochna”. Author also examines question of relation between Vietnamese folk poetry and Chinese concepts “fu”, “bi”, “xing” from Chinese Shi Jing.
