Jews at War: Diaries from the Front
Ch. 3. P. 57–84.
Budnitskii O.
The essay, "Jews at War: Diaries from the Front", provides a glimpse of what the author calls "Private Abram's" war. These diaries reveal the soldiers' ordinary, daily existence of sleeping eating, and resting; occasionally the business of fighting turns into scenes of horrific violence. The author concludes that his subjects'Soviet identity was far more important to them than their Jewishness.
