At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Неравновесное состояние в квазиодномерных сверхпроводящих каналах

JETP Letters. 2026. Vol. 124. No. 6. P. 1–16.
Arutyunov K., Kharitonov I. A., Petrosyants K. O.

Superconducting properties of metallic micro- and nanowires can be entirely different from those of bulk superconductors. Of particular interest is the nonequilibrium current-induced state of a quasi-one-dimensional superconducting channel. The most interesting phenomenon here is the stepped I–V characteristic, explained by a process known as phase slip center activation. If the origin of such step-like I-V dependencies is at least qualitatively well understood, a commonly accepted explanation for the step-like R(T) characteristics is still missing.  We review theoretical and experimental activities in the field and demonstrate dramatic progress in understanding of the phenomenon of quasi-one-dimensional superconductivity.

Makarov D. M., Kalikin N., Fashchevsky K. A. et al., Electrochimica Acta 2026 Vol. 579 Article 150159
Machine learning (ML) has become a powerful tool for accelerating the development of carbon-based supercapacitors; however, most published models assume that a single predictive framework can describe both conventional porous carbons and hybrid carbon electrodes. Here, we test this assumption using a comprehensive benchmark dataset and an extended literature-curated dataset enriched with synthesis- and electrolyte-related descriptors. Three ML algorithms ...

Махлуф М., Ozhegov R., Elezov M. et al., Фотоника 2026 Vol. 20 No. 6 P. 414–423
This paper compares the ranging precision of direct time-of-flight (dToF) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) LiDAR architectures, both using a superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD). Both systems operate at 1550 nm with a 50 ps pulsed laser and time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC). The dToF configuration achieved approximately 100 µm precision at 10 m, while the NLOS configuration achieved 500 µm precision for ...

Wu Z., Yu Y., Chibisov A., Materials Today Energy 2023 Vol. 37 Article 101414
The limited availability of lithium metal resources has led to the development of sodium/potassium-ion batteries due to the abundance and low cost of sodium/potassium. However, finding suitable cathode materials with high capacity, stable cycling performance, and efficient electrochemical interface is still challenging. Herein, the honeycomb layered structures of P2-type A2Ni2TeO6 (A = Na, K) have been explored ...

We theoretically study the nonequilibrium dynamics of the order parameter of a superconducting ring inhomogeneously quenched through its transition temperature. Numerical simulations based on spectral decomposition of the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation reveal that current-carrying superconducting states can be generated in the ring under certain fast local temperature quench conditions. We also show that illumination of ...

In-situ adjustment of bolometers is very important in various applications, but it is still difficult to implement in many systems. Here we propose a gate-tunable bolometer based on two strongly-coupled graphene nanomechanical resonators. Both resonators are exposed to the same light field, and we can measure the ...

Superconducting insulators and localization of Cooper pairs
Arutyunov K., Lehtinen J. S., Radkevich A. A. et al., Communications Physics 2021 Vol. 4 Article 146
Rapid miniaturization of electronic devices and circuits demands profound understanding of fluctuation phenomena at the nanoscale. Superconducting nanowires – serving as important building blocks for such devices – may seriously suffer from fluctuations which tend to destroy long-range order and suppress superconductivity. In particular, quantum phase slips (QPS) proliferating at low temperatures may turn a quasi-one-dimensional superconductor into a resistor ...
