Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

К синтаксису клауз с аспектуальными глаголами в якутском языке
Баркова Л. А., Родной язык: лингвистический журнал 2026 № 1 С. 9–58
This article examines the syntax of constructions with aspectual verbs in Sakha (a.k.a. Yakut). Such constructions contain two predicates: a lexical verb which is a converb, and a finite aspectual verb that conveys some grammatical meaning. The syntax of such constructions has already been studied for some other Turkic languages. The pre‑ sent research examines ...

Causative constructions in Amguema Chukchi
Stenin I., Voprosy Jazykoznanija 2026 No. 4 P. 86–111
The article examines causativization strategies in Amguema Chukchi. It focuses primarily on the morphological causative marked by the prefix r- (-n-), which can be derived freely from patientive and experiential intransitive predicates. Only certain classes of agentive intransitive predicates, such as change-of-posture and ingestive verbs, form the proper causative. With most other agentive intransitive verbs, ...

Russian neologism verb’s prefixes: Against the semantic invariants approach
Bubnov G., RHEMA. РЕМА 2024 No. 4 P. 42–66
In this paper, the hypothesis of semantic invariants, which claims that the selection of natural telicizer prefixes depends on the semantics of the verb, is refuted based on verbs derived from English loanwords. The data from neologism verbs, collected through a Google Forms survey, demonstrate the existence of a universal natural telicizer prefix za-, the ...

Causative Suffixes in Tatyshly Udmurt: How Native and Borrowed Morphemes Co-Exist
Belova D., Tomsk Journal of Linguistics and Anthropology 2024 Vol. 1 No. 43 P. 9–19
The paper deals with morphological causatives in the Tatyshly subdialect of the Udmurt language (Republic of Bashkortostan). Surrounded by the Turkic languages (Tatar and Bashkir), Tatyshly Udmurt developed a more complex system of causative markers than Standard Udmurt. It consists of two suffixes: -t, of Uralic origins, and a Turkic borrowing -ttə̑ r absent in Standard Udmurt. In ...

Indirect antipassive in Circassian
Arkadiev P., Letuchiy A., , in: Antipassive: Typology, diachrony, and related constructions.: Philadelphia, Amsterdam: John Benjamins Publishing Company, 2021. Ch. 15 P. 483–514.
The article focuses on antipassive formation in Adyghe and Kabardian (Circassian < West Caucasian), polysynthetic languages with ergative alignment of basic morphosyntax. The Circassian antipassive is typologically unusual in several respects. First, it is derived not only from transitive, but also from intransitive verbs: in these cases, it eliminates the indirect object. Thus, antipassive in ...

Антипассивные показатели в тундровом ненецком языке
Stenin I., Урало-алтайские исследования 2023 № 4(51) С. 80–105
The article deals with the Tundra Nenets word-formation markers, which can be called antipassive. Their attachment to the verb stem affects the syntactic status of the P-argument of the two-place transitive verb and may also impose certain semantic or pragmatic constraints on the interpretation of the P-argument. Antipassivization in Tundra Nenets is closely related to ...

The article deals with the two strategies of the participial passive in Tundra Nenets, one of which allows the expression of the agent, and another one does not. Семантика некаузирирующих каузативов в андийском языке
Рошан Н., Moroz G., В кн.: Языки и культуры народов России и мира.: Махачкала: АЛЕФ, 2019. С. 348–352.
This article analyzes the semantics of non-causative causativs in the Andean language from a titological point of view. These structures use a сausative marker without the expected increase in valence. Instead of syntax changes, the causativ introduces a semantic hue into the design. The typology describes that the semantics of non-causative causativs is always associated ...

Полисемия в списках самодийской базисной лексики и языковые контакты

This paper investigates cases of semantic shifts and proto-language polysemy in the Samoyed core lexicon. This research focuses on the shifts which have analogies in Turkic and Tungusic languages, identified with the help of semantic reconstruction. Special maps were created at LingvoDoc linguistic platform in order to demonstrate areas of similar polysemy and semantic shifts, ...

Constraining the distribution of the perdurative in Russian
Naumov I., , in: Advances in formal Slavic linguistics 2017.: Language Science Press, 2020. Ch. 9 P. 205–231.
In this paper, I explore the constraints on the distribution of the perdurative prefix pro- in Russian. Applying several diagnostics proposed by Tatevosov (2009; 2013), I show that the perdurative pro- is a “selectionally restricted” prefix associated with an additional restriction: it can combine with a predicate built on a secondary imperfective stem only under ...

Семантический компонент ‘комплетив’ и «полексемный» подход к акциональной классификации в русском языке
Fedotov M., Вопросы языкознания 2019 № 3 С. 7–44
The paper discusses two related aspectological topics. First section examines the ‘completive’ — i. e. ‘attainment of the internal limit’ — meaning (together with its counterpart ‘incompletive’, i. e. ‘non-attainment of the internal limit’). Its localization in the semantic structure of the utterance is determined: between aspect proper and actionality proper. Also, ‘completive’ can be included under ...
