This monograph examines the theoretical and methodological dimensions of current research into the interplay between industrial clusters and the socio-economic environment of the region. It puts forward an original conceptual framework tracing the evolution of cluster theory and introduces a novel systemic-spatial approach to investigating the reciprocal influence between the region and its industrial cluster. Drawing on a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, the study proposes an original systemic-spatial methodology that enables an assessment of the cluster’s impact on regional socio-economic development, while also accounting for the feedback effects of the regional environment on the cluster’s own performance.

The book is intended for economists, academics, postgraduate students, officials at both central and local government levels, and anyone with an interest in regional development issues.
